GEORGE MICHAEL BEGS THERE WON'T BE A 'BAND AID 2'

Anti-war activist George Michael says most other pop acts are too lightweight to carry off a peace protest song. Michael is criticizing plans by Lee Ryan of British boy band Blue to gather such stars as Justin Timberlake (news), Pink, and Kylie Minogue (news) for song for peace in the spirit of Band Aid, the 1984 record in aid of Ethiopian famine relief.

"I'm begging, I'm hoping that there will not be a Band Aid 2 because the reality is that very, very few people in the industry now that you're hearing on the radio make their money from their own hearts and minds," said Michael on the BBC Hardtalk program. "They make their money from singing the words of others, and so therefore the weight of something called Band Aid 2 would be incredibly slight." Michael performed on Band Aid's "Do They Know It's Christmas?" in 1984. -- Nancy Brooks, Nashville

KELLY HAS GOT SOME BAWLS

SHE fancies herself as a bad girl of rock but Kelly Osbourne was left sobbing like a baby after a tongue-lashing from Pink at a Grammys aftershow party.

The pair clashed at the Arista bash after Kelly asked if they could have their picture taken together.

Gobby Kelly was blissfully unaware that Pink was seething about an interview in which Kelly said: "Pink's definitely not a real rock chick." So she was hardly impressed when Kelly asked for a a snap.

She screamed: "I know you've been bitching about me in interviews. I read them while I was in the UK and now you want a picture. What's your problem?"

Shocked Kelly, 18, stuttered: "I don't know what you're talking about, I would never say anything about you. I've been misquoted." Bizarrely, Pink then grabbed her by the waist and said: "Let's smile for the cameras then." Before snapping, "Now get lost".

Kelly burst into tears and fled. Her mood wasn't helped by being dumped by boyfriend Bert McCracken, who was tired of being "Kelly Osbourne's boyfriend".

He ditched her live on stage as his band, The Used, gigged in Indianapolis, saying: "Happy Valentine's Day. I love you, but we're breaking up."

PINK PARTIES WITH CAREY HART AT SHOW

Pink's red-faced guy

Pink got her personal Grammy-weekend party started with a new man and a very public display of affection.

A punk-rock pretty boy identified only as Carey danced with his arms around her on Friday night at Show, where Arista Records boss L.A. Reid threw a party to present her with a plaque for selling 10 million albums.

The rocker, who was nominated for two Grammys, cuddled on the dance floor with the dark-haired youth, who evidently shares her love for tattoos.

But her security team made sure no one got close to the couple.

The relationship seemed to be confirmed during a performance by Pink's "Party Tour" opening band, Candy Ass. Lead singer Galadriel invited Carey to introduce the group's final number, "P-whipped." "C'mon, Carey, what are you?" she asked in front of the cheering crowd, that included Debbie Harry and Backstreet Boy Kevin Richardson.

The sheepish young man came to the mike and said, "p-whipped."

As the band launched into the number, Pink hugged her blushing young man and collapsed into giggles. The pair then disappeared.

PINK AVOIDS MADONNA

Rock chick Pink has yet to meet her idol Madonna - and keeping the Material Girl a mystery suits her fine.

Pink has Madonna up on a pedestal and credits the singer with giving her the ambition to make it in the music industry. And Pink is not ready to chance a meeting with her in case they don't get on. She says, "I've looked up to her for so long. I don't want her to become human to me. I know how weird that sounds! I don't want to see her flaws - to not like her. You meet some people and you find yourself thinking, why the hell did I look up to them in the first place? Not that I think she would be like that. I just don't want to chance it. I used to look up to her like she was my mother...like my mentor, my teacher. And if I met her and she didn't like me, I'd be crushed."

LATEST ON SUGABABES, MARIAH, P!NK AND THE REHAB HAVEN AT THE GRAMMY’S

Sexy pop trio THE SUGABABES has re-edited their new video - because it was deemed too raunchy for public consumption. The girls had been filmed naked for the track ‘Shape’ and computer-generated butterflies were used to cover specific parts of their bodies. However, even this was not enough to make the video screenable. Singer Heidi Range says, "There was just one butterfly covering each nipple. We've got the copies and they're being kept away from fans. "My dad would shoot my if he saw the original. There was practically nothing to cover me. You could see the whole of my bottom."

Singing diva MARIAH CAREY is hoping to repair the damage done by her 2001 movie flop ‘Glitter’ - by taking on another film role. The New York native has signed up to star in a new flick called ‘Sweet Science’ where she'll play a manager who recruits a young female boxer to take the sport by storm. Carey's other acting efforts have been in films ‘The Bachelor’ and ‘Wisegirls’.

PINK has been tapped to write the main title for Columbia Pictures' ‘Charlie's Angels II: Full Throttle’, opening in movie theaters across the US on 27th June. singer and songwriter, who is winging a cameo in the film in a scene with race car daredevil and boyfriend Carey Hart, is currently writing for her third album.

Organisers of last night's GRAMMY AWARDS offered something new this year - a backstage 'tranquility suite' where recovering alcohol and substance abusers could relax in privacy. A source told American website Page Six at the weekend, "The big news was this 'tranquility suite' that will be backstage for any musicians in rehab. Apparently it will serve lemon water and have soothing music."

KELLY VS P!NK

Kelly Osbourne got into an altercation with Pink at a Grammys after show party, when the feisty singer confronted the teen rocker over derogatory comments she'd made about her. Kelly approached the star at the Arista bash and asked her to pose for a photo together, but was unaware Pink was furious after reading an article in which Osbourne had doubted her validity as a 'rock chick'.

Pink ranted, "I know you've been bitching about me in interviews. I read them all while I was in the UK and now you want a picture, what's your problem?" Kelly replied, "I don't know what you're talking about, I would never say anything about you. I've been misquoted." Then Pink grabbed her and said, "Let's smile for the camera's then. Now get lost." Reports suggest that Kelly then left the bash in tears.

DURST DRESSES FOR A GRAY MOOD, AVRIL GETS HIDEOUS, RAPPERS TURN PINK ON GRAMMY RED CARPET

You can tell Fred Durst's been kind of down lately by the way he's all agitated when responding to the have-you-and-Britney-been-dating questions and, more importantly, the fact that he's not sporting his usual jaunty red baseball cap.

At the 45th annual Grammy Awards in New York he wore a brown cap, an olive T-shirt over a gray long-sleeve top, and a sour though resolved expression when he admitted that he and Britney were seeing each other for a while, before she "played him out."

Durst was pretty much alone in his dressed-down look at the event, however. The men, everyone from Fat Joe to the Foo Fighters and Nelly, were all spiffed up in suits . Fat Joe wore his best Godfather gear — a black fedora, a black fur coat draped over his shoulders, and a black suit with a pink shirt for some color. Scruffy Dave Grohl cleaned up and got himself into a black suit without a tie and fellow Foo Fighter Taylor Hawkins channeled his inner Don Johnson by wearing a gray suit with a blue T-shirt underneath.

A Band-Aid-less Nelly, winner of two awards before he got to the end of the red carpet , hooked up with Cedric the Entertainer and Steve Harvey's tailor, who made the rapper a khaki suit with a matching checked vest, tie and hanky.

The five boys of 'N-"We're whole tonight"-SYNC all wore black suits, while Raphael Saadiq looked sharp in a brown suit with salmon accents and matching fedora. He was attended to by the outfit's designer and P. Diddy's personal valet, Farnsworth Bentley.

P. Diddy was his usual fashion-plate self in a black suit with a white tie and, starting to walk in Daddy's shoes already, was his son Justin in a matching outfit. Meanwhile, Usher wore a white suit with a tie-dye tie and John Mayer sported a black pinstripe suit with a silvery-gray tie.

T-Boz and Chilli of TLC tribute-dressed by wearing leather jackets over sparkly bra tops with homages to their late group member, Left Eye — the ladies accented their outfits with the word "Left" on Chilli's necklace and T-Boz's belt, and pictures of eyes on their clothes.

Rowdy and rag-tag Avril Lavigne and her band all wore the ugliest tuxedos they could find. On purpose. Lavigne wore a tux with studs and skull-and-crossbones because, she said, "There's no friggin' way I was going to wear a dress." The rest of her bandmates wore clashing tuxes with gaggy water-squirting flowers and light-up bow ties.

No Doubt's fashion frontman is usually and reliably Gwen Stefani, who didn't disappoint Sunday night, though she was slightly upstaged by drummer Adrian Young. Stefani wore a black-and-white polka-dot dress with an asymmetrical neckline and a white boa, while Young paraded around in a plaid skirt — not a kilt — and maroon Doc Martens.

Missy Elliott and Cam'ron were tickled pink to be there, literally, as they both wore rose from head to toe. Missy wore a "Gossip Folks"-type sweatsuit with a fuzzy pink Kangol cap, and Cam'ron dressed to match his pink cell phone. The real Pink, meanwhile, was rocking a cranberry mohawk and black shredded dress, cut high enough to let the new dragon tattoo on her left thigh peek out.

And Foxy Brown, as is her way, let a little more peek out. She wore a teal micro-micro minidress, slit all the way down the front to reveal a matching bra and a belly button.

While some other girls also opted for the minidress, like Kelly Rowland and Kylie Minogue, India.Arie wore a long white dress to complement her new buzz cut, and Ashanti wore a long Roberto Cavalli dress with a train to offset her new Grammy for Best Contemporary R&B Album.

Finally, what would an awards show fashion round-up be without a proper thrashing of the disastrous duds? Unfortunately, Christina Aguilera couldn't make it to the ceremony. ...
